Cluj-Napoca: CONTRA-DICTIONS. Solo Painting Exhibition by Iacob Coman

The Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, a public cultural institution operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invites you to visit, between May 14-31, 2025, the solo painting exhibition of artist Iacob Coman, entitled Contra-Dictions.

Born on February 20, 1962, in Reghin, Mureș County, Iacob Coman is widely known for his work in the fields of theology, philosophy, and literature, areas in which he has earned a doctoral degree. Poet and pastor, an author with an articulate theological discourse and a distinct voice in the contemporary cultural landscape, Iacob Coman officially grounded his artistic journey by completing the Master’s program in Visual Arts at the West University of Timișoara in 2022.

The Contra-Dictions exhibition brings together a selection of paintings created in recent years, works in which visual tension becomes the echo of a profound inner tension, of a spiritual and existential nature. Iacob Coman’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in themes such as ephemerality, the fragility of perception, and the tensions between the rational and the intuitive. Through a figurative abstract visual language, his painting navigates between the sacred and the profane of everyday life, opening spaces for reflection and questions with ontological stakes.

The exhibition opening will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 6:00 PM, in the presence of Lucian Nastasă-Kovács, manager of the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum, the artist Iacob Coman, and the exhibition’s curator, art critic Mircea Oliv.
